Counselling in Schools
At the Wellness Hub, we offer affordable and accessible counselling services for school-aged children, in partnership with schools and families. Our goal is to provide early support to students experiencing emotional, social, or mental health challenges.
How to Access Counselling for Your Child?
Option 1: Book Directly with Us
Parents and guardians can contact us directly to book counselling sessions for their child. Appointments are available:
- At the school (if an in-house counsellor is available)
- At our South Yarra clinic
- Via telehealth
To book:
- Through the online booking form: https://wellnesshub.mhfa.org.au/book-an-appointment
- Email us at wellness.hub@mhfa.org.au
- Call us on (03) 8825 3501
Option 2: Referral Through the School
School staff may suggest counselling for students who could benefit from extra support. With your consent, the school can share your contact details with us, and we’ll be in touch to arrange next steps.
What to Expect?
- Initial Consultation: Discuss your child’s needs and goals for counselling.
- Affordable Sessions: $30 per 50-minute session.
- Qualified Support: Provided by provisional psychologists and counsellors supervised by an AHPRA PsyBA-approved supervisor and their university placement coordinators.
- Flexible Options: In-person or telehealth appointments available.
Note: We recognise that financial hardship can be a barrier to accessing care. Fee waivers may be available in special circumstances, please speak with our team in confidence if cost is a concern.
Confidentiality & Communication
We believe in working together to support your child:
- For younger children, parents are kept fully informed
- For high school students, we involve parents with the student’s consent (unless safety concerns arise)
- All information is handled with care, in line with professional and ethical guidelines
How Counselling Can Help?
Children and teens may face stress, anxiety, peer challenges, or emotional difficulties that impact their wellbeing and learning. Early support can make a difference. By offering counselling in a school setting, we create a familiar, accessible space for students to talk, heal, and grow.
